Damanhour, Egypt – The chief forensic physician of the Damanhur forensic medicine department appeared before the Damanhour Criminal Court today to present findings related to the case of child Yassin, a victim of assault at a private school. The presentation centers on the forensic report detailing the extent of the injuries sustained by the child.
The court is currently hearing appeal sessions following an April 30th ruling by the Damanhour Criminal Court which sentenced KJA, a 79-year-old financial observer, to life imprisonment for indecent assault against Yassin. Case number 33773 of 2024, linked to total crimes record number 1946 for 2024 in central Damanhur, is under review. Today’s session was convened, in part, to allow for thorough examination of the forensic evidence and witness statements gathered by the supreme State Security Prosecution. The appeal session was initially postponed to September 20th to accommodate the chief forensic physician’s availability.
Yassin, the child victim, attended the Etay El-Baroud Court session wearing a Spider-Man costume, a symbolic gesture of strength according to observers. His mother expressed hope for his future, stating,”Today is the first day of study,” despite the trauma he has endured. The court, lead by Counselor Ashraf Ayyad, will continue to review the case and determine whether to uphold the original sentence.
