Manchester United‘s Revival Hinges on System, Says Manager Ruben Amorim
LONDON – Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has affirmed his commitment too his established tactical system, stating that no external influence, ”not even the pope,” could sway him from it, as the club navigates a challenging period of rebuilding. The comments came during a 40th anniversary gala dinner for the Association of Manchester United Players, where Amorim acknowledged the significant pressure he faces to restore the team to its former glory.
Amorim, who joined the club in April, roughly 18 months ago, admitted he initially underestimated the extent of the challenges awaiting him. “I thought the club was in a much better place than it was,” he said. “We had no football identity,we lacked alignment between ownership, the CEO,football and the academy and we’ve just been working so hard behind the scenes.” He expressed optimism about the future, stating, “it’s not will we win again, it’s when we’ll win again.”
The manager confirmed that both Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount will be available for the upcoming match against Chelsea. When questioned about former United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who recently joined Chelsea for £40m, Amorim was dismissive, stating, “Garnacho is not our player. I’m focused on our players – I’m really happy with Mase and Cunha returning. That is my focus. And the rest you have to talk with the Chelsea manager.”
