Seattle Seahawks Face Key Injuries Ahead of Week 3 Matchup Against Saints
The Seattle Seahawks will be without several key players when they face the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. safety Julian Love is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury, potentially opening the door for Ty Okada to start alongside Coby Bryant in the secondary.
Also doubtful for Sunday’s game are rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle sprain), cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee injury sustained against the San Francisco 49ers), and running back Zach charbonnet (toe injury). This marks the second missed game of charbonnet’s Seahawks career. George Holani, who scored a game-changing touchdown on special teams against the Pittsburgh Steelers, is expected to see increased carries alongside primary running back Kenneth Walker III.
Head coach Mike Macdonald has indicated that none of the four doubtful players are expected to be placed on injured reserve. While the Seahawks have a short week with a Thursday night game against the Arizona Cardinals following the Saints matchup, Macdonald noted that practices during short weeks are typically walkthroughs, meaning the players’ availability for the Cardinals game isn’t necessarily tied to their status for the Saints game. It may be more realistic to assess their availability for Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Seahawks report that Ernest Jones IV, Josh Jobe, Tory Horton, Derick Hall, and Abe Lucas are all expected to play on Sunday.
