Eden, NC – Clarence albert “Donnie” austin, a Vietnam War veteran and longtime resident of Eden, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Born August 26, 1947, in Eden, Donnie was the son of the late Clarence Bell Austin and Annie Mae Moorefield Austin. He dedicated his life to family and community, serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before retiring from Fieldcrest Mills after years of dedicated employment.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Deborah Rodgers Austin; children, Donald Austin (Rebecca) of Summerfield, Denise Austin Dix (Robbie) of Ruffin, Richard Bowan of Eden, Christopher Rodgers of Eden, and Michael Hall II (Jennifer) of Eden; sister, Laura Bumpass (Wayne) of Durham; sister-in-law, Donna Tate; grandchildren, Leah Cothran Church (Kenneth), Zachary Austin, Emily austin, Brooke Austin, Joseph Austin, Houston Dix, Caydance rodgers, Zachary Skye schlotzhauer, Leyluhn Bowman, and Miley Bowman; great-grandchildren, Kimberlyn Walker and Zaira Schlotzhauer; and special cousin, Fran Austin Lusk.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Legion in lieu of flowers.
