Tropical Cyclone Bulletin: Storm “Nando” Threat in the Philippines

Tropical Storm “Nando” Intensifies, Threatens Northern Luzon – Bulletin #6 (September 19, 2025)

Tropical Storm “Nando” is currently moving west northwestward over the Philippine ⁣Sea and is expected to intensify into a typhoon by tomorrow evening, September 20th. Forecasters are not ​ruling out further intensification to a super typhoon as it approaches Extreme ‌Northern Luzon. This bulletin, issued at​ 5:00 AM ⁣today, September 19th, is valid ​for broadcast untill the next ⁣advisory at 11:00 AM.

Landfall & Rainfall: While “Nando” is unlikely to directly impact‌ weather conditions⁢ in the next 48 hours, the onset of heavy rains due to the Southwest Monsoon, enhanced by the storm, is possible beginning Sunday, September 21st, or Monday, September 22nd. The center of “Nando” is currently forecast to ​pass close to, or⁢ perhaps make landfall over, the Babuyan Islands between the evening of‍ Monday, September ⁢22nd, and the morning of Tuesday, September 23rd, before exiting the philippine Area of Duty ⁤by Tuesday afternoon or evening.

Wind Warnings: ⁤wind⁢ Signal No. 1 ‌might⁣ potentially be hoisted over Northern ⁣Luzon as early as ‍tomorrow,September 20th. ​Given the potential for “Nando”‍ to ​reach super typhoon​ strength, the highest wind signal that may be raised ‍throughout its passage is Wind Signal No. 5. ‌Strong ⁣to gale-force​ gusts⁤ are expected in the‌ following areas:

* Today, September 19th: Ilocos Region, ⁤Zambales, Bataan,‍ Bicol ⁣Region, ​and Eastern ​Visayas.
* Tomorrow, September ​20th: Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.
*⁢ ​ Sunday, September 21st: Bicol Region, Visayas, ⁣Northern Mindanao, ‍and Caraga.

Coastal Hazards: ‌Moderate to rough seas are likely over moast coastal waters of Luzon beginning Sunday, ‍September 21st, wiht significant wave heights potentially reaching up to 14.0 meters as “Nando” nears Extreme Northern Luzon. A ‍storm surge warning might potentially be‍ issued for coastal waters ⁤of Northern Luzon as early as tomorrow, September 20th.

Sea Conditions: In the next‍ 24 hours, “Nando” is​ not expected to significantly affect sea conditions.
