Ministry of home Affairs Directly oversees Prabumulih Mayor’s Case Following Principal Dismissal
Prabumulih, South Sumatra – The Ministry of Home Affairs (kemendagri) has taken direct control of the case involving Prabumulih Mayor Irwan Prayitno, stemming from his controversial removal of Roni Ardiansyah as Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Prabumulih. The move follows a determination that Irwan violated regulations regarding the transfer and dismissal of school principals.
The Ministry’s intervention underscores concerns over regional leadership adherence to established administrative procedures, notably those governing education personnel. The case gained public attention after it was revealed Irwan dismissed Roni due to dissatisfaction with the school’s handling of an incident involving his child during a rainstorm. While Irwan later apologized and rescinded the dismissal following public outcry, the Ministry deemed the initial action a procedural violation warranting further scrutiny.
According to Mahendra, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, the dismissal of Roni Ardiansyah was not conducted in accordance with Article 28 of Minister of basic and Secondary Education Regulation No. 7 of 2025, which outlines the proper procedures for assigning teachers as principals. Furthermore, the dismissal bypassed the required KSP-SPK SIM submission, the official management details system for School Principals, School Supervisors, and Education Personnel.
As a result of these violations, Irwan Prayitno has received a written warning from the Ministry. The Ministry emphasized that as a regional head and government official, Irwan is obligated to comply with applicable funding regulations and administrative protocols.
