New Mexico Lobos and Washington State Cougars Announce Two-Game Exhibition Series
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico Lobos and Washington State Cougars have agreed too a home-and-home exhibition series,officials announced Thursday. The series will kick off this season with a matchup on October 25th at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, Washington.
The Cougars will then travel to Albuquerque for a return exhibition game at The Pit prior to the start of the 2026-27 season. This year’s contest in Pullman is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m. and will be free to the public. Details regarding broadcast coverage will be released at a later date.
Washington State concluded the 2024-25 season with a 19-15 overall record, posting an 8-10 mark within the West Coast Conference.The Cougars recently competed in the inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas, where they were defeated by georgetown in the first round.
The two programs haven’t faced each other sence the 2015-16 season, a contest won by Washington State during the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii. Historically, New Mexico holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series, with a perfect 2-0 record when playing at The Pit. However, this upcoming game will mark the first-ever meeting between the Lobos and Cougars in pullman.
This exhibition against Washington State will serve as the first of two preseason tune-ups for the Lobos. New Mexico will also host Northern Arizona in a final preseason game on October 30th at The Pit.
