Orlando, FL – A visitor died Wednesday at Worldwide’s Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, after experiencing a roller coaster ride, according to a statement from park officials.
The guest, whose identity has not been released, became unresponsive while on Stardust Racers, a spokesperson for Universal confirmed. orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were off-duty at the park discovered a man in his 30s on the ride and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death remains undetermined. The District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the body and will conduct an examination.
Stardust Racers is currently closed while the Sheriff’s Office investigates the incident, with universal cooperating fully with authorities.NBCUniversal representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
“We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones,” the Universal spokesperson stated.
Epic Universe, which opened in may, features several new themed areas including Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry potter – Ministry of Magic.
