Kentucky Basketball to Commemorate 50 Years at Rupp Arena
LEXINGTON, KY - Kentucky men’s basketball will celebrate its 50th season playing in Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in 2025-26, UK Athletics and oak View Group announced today. The milestone marks a half-century of history within the iconic venue, which opened in 1976 and has hosted four NCAA Championship-winning teams.
Since its inception,Rupp Arena has become synonymous with Kentucky basketball,fostering unforgettable moments for generations of fans. The season-long celebration will include in-venue tributes, social media features, and special programming on the UK Sports Network, honoring both the program’s legacy and the passionate Big blue Nation.
“Rupp Arena is sacred ground in college basketball,” saeid head coach Mark Pope. “To be part of the 50th season in this building, where so many legends have played and so many memories have been made, it’s incredibly humbling. We’re excited to honor the past, while building toward the future.”
UK Athletics director Mitch Barnhart emphasized the unique connection between the team, the arena, and its supporters. “This is more than a milestone,it’s a celebration of the bond between a team,a venue and a fanbase unlike any other,” Barnhart said. “We’re proud to partner with Rupp Arena and Central Bank Center to honor the legacy of Kentucky basketball and the Big Blue Nation.”
Throughout the upcoming season, fans can anticipate highlight reels, commemorative content, and special recognitions during home games. The celebration will also acknowledge the fans who contribute to Rupp Arena’s renowned electric atmosphere.
