Nintendo Re-Registers Trademark for Pokémon Moon in Brazil
Nintendo has recently renewed the trademark for Pokémon Moon in Brazil, according to filings with the country’s trademark office. This registration joins a recent series of brand protections for Nintendo properties including Earthbound, Super Mario Galaxy, Astral Chain, Tomodachi life, and Magical Starsign.
The move has sparked speculation among Pokémon fans regarding potential future projects related to the Alola region, first introduced in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. While trademark renewals don’t guarantee new game announcements, nintendo’s prior re-registration of Super Mario Galaxy preceded its release on the Nintendo Switch.
The Pokémon legends series has already demonstrated nintendo’s willingness to revisit established regions with a new gameplay format, having previously returned to Sinnoh with Pokémon Legends: arceus and set to revisit Kalos with the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. A similar approach could possibly bring an updated experience to the Alola region.
Currently, Nintendo has not commented on the reason for the trademark renewal.
