Dengue Cases Rise in North Aceh: Cut Meutia Hospital Reports Nine New Patients in September

North Aceh, Indonesia – Cut Meutia Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in butik Rata, North Aceh, treated nine patients for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) throughout September 2025, according to hospital officials. The cases included seven adults and two children, originating from both North Aceh and the neighboring city of Lhokseumawe.

Hospital Public Relations officer, Harry Admiral, explained that early symptoms of DHF typically include headaches, joint pain, nausea, and coughing, often accompanied by fatigue due to decreasing platelet counts. “The initial symptoms of DHF are usually headaches, joint pain, nausea, coughing, and most frequently enough have days due to decreased platelets,” admiral told Ajnn on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The recent increase represents a continuing trend, with Cut Meutia Hospital having treated a total of 90 DHF patients over the past eight months. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

Health officials attribute the rise in cases to the onset of the rainy season, which creates ideal breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes – the primary vectors for the dengue virus.”The rainy season gave birth to many mosquito larvae carrying DHF viruses, especially in urban areas,” Admiral stated.

The hospital is urging residents to proactively prevent the spread of dengue through the implementation of “3M Plus”: draining water reservoirs, closing containers, and recycling used goods. Individuals experiencing early DHF symptoms are also advised to seek medical attention promptly.

“Don’t wait for new symptoms to the hospital,” Admiral emphasized. “maintain endurance with nutritious food, drink water, rest enough, and routinely see a doctor.”
