Victoria Swarovski Reveals Dirndl Disaster & Oktoberfest Favorites
MUNICH – Designer Victoria Swarovski confessed to a hilarious Oktoberfest mishap – a wardrobe malfunction in a fun house – while sharing her 2024 style recommendations and wiesn traditions. The incident, revealed as one of the festival’s biggest faux pas, highlights the lighthearted side of the world-renowned celebration even for those deeply involved in its fashion and culture.
Swarovski, who boasts a collection of 200 dirndls, is launching her eighth Kruger collection to inspire Oktoberfest attendees. She advises a move towards classic, modestly cut dirndls in gentle colors, complemented by statement jewelry and, crucially, white lace socks. Despite her fashion expertise and frequent attendance – “at least once a year” – she admits to indulging in both a “measure” of beer and “chocolate fruits,” balancing the festivities with a dedicated fitness regime.
“I sit in front of the television, one day after the tapping, of course with a hangover, and look at the ten largest Oktoberfest faux pas,” Swarovski recounted.”And then it was actually me, as I run through my dirndl in the fun house and I found my dress up. funny.”
The designer’s loyal dachshund, Gustel, is a constant companion, even making an appearance backstage at the Bambi Awards. When asked where to find her during the festival, Swarovski cited the rifle tent and the beetle Wiesn-Schänke as her preferred spots, adding that the Oktoberfest spirit extends beyond the fairgrounds with lively After-Wiesn parties in Munich. She remained tight-lipped about whether she’d be attending with Mark Mateschitz.
