Guaymas Celebrates 215 Years of Mexican Independence with Fervor and Festivities
Guaymas, Sonora – September 16, 2025 – The city of Guaymas erupted in patriotic party last night as residents and visitors gathered to commemorate the 215th anniversary of mexico’s Cry of Independence. Led by mayor Dr. Karla Córdova González, the festivities unfolded before a crowd of hundreds assembled in front of the Municipal Palace.
The evening began with a formal procession featuring the flag escort and war band of the Second Naval Region, marching from the Plaza de los Tres Presidents to the Municipal Palace to honor the national flag. Municipal trustee Celestino Sarabia Tautimez then presented the flag to Mayor Córdova González, who led the crowd in a rousing rendition of the Mexican national anthem. secretary of the City Council, herman García Luna, followed with a reading of the Act of Independence, recounting the historic call to arms.

From the balcony of the Municipal Palace, Mayor Córdova González paid tribute to the heroes of the independence movement before leading the conventional “¡Viva México! ¡Viva la independencia! ¡Viva Hidalgo!” cry, igniting a wave of enthusiastic responses from the assembled crowd.
