Giants Option Luis Matos to Triple-A, Paving Way for Bryce Eldridge‘s Debut
the San Francisco Giants have designated Venezuelan outfielder Luis Matos for assignment, sending him to Triple-A Sacramento to create roster space for top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who will make his major league debut Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Matos, 23, appeared in 57 games for the Giants this season, batting .221 with eight home runs, 22 RBIs, and four stolen bases. His performance dipped substantially in September, hitting .143 (3-for-21) with three runs scored and one RBI in seven games.
Eldridge’s arrival generates considerable excitement within the Giants institution and among fans. He is considered one of the team’s best offensive prospects and is expected to bolster the San Francisco offense during the final stretch of the season.
