HOUSTON, TX – The university of St. thomas men’s soccer team defeated North American University 2-0 Wednesday at SaberCats Stadium,continuing their winning streak against the Stallions.
The Celts, having previously defeated NAU this season, controlled the match with a strong defensive performance from goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez and key goals from Tony castro and Jeth Flores. The victory improves St. Thomas’s record to 3-1 as they prepare for a road match against Houston-Victoria. This win solidifies the Celts’ position as a competitive force in the early season and builds momentum for their upcoming challenges.
The Stallions began the first half aggressively, but Gonzalez thwarted their attempts with two crucial saves. The celts responded with offensive pressure, culminating in a 37th-minute goal by Castro, assisted by Brian Garcia, to take a 1-0 led into halftime.
Intensity escalated in the second half, but the Celts maintained composure and extended their advantage when flores successfully converted a penalty kick. St. Thomas then managed the remainder of the match, securing the 2-0 victory.
