Zeng Shengen previously stated his aspiration to be a key contributor to the team. Reflecting on his performance, he jokingly referred to himself as “the first to be the first,” meaning he was the first player dismissed from the game. He extended gratitude to his teammates and coaching staff for their efforts throughout the tournament and for navigating the pressures of the World Cup stage.
Taiwan defeated South Korea on September 14, with Jiang Tingyi delivering the game-winning hit. Zeng Shengen’s expulsion from the third-place match is currently under appeal by head coach Liao Hongyuan, according to reports.
