Blue Jays Injury Updates: Sandlin, Francis Rehab Progress

Blue Jays Receive Positive Rehab Updates on Pitchers Sandlin,Francis

toronto Blue Jays pitchers Nick sandlin and Bowden⁤ Francis are both making encouraging progress in their respective⁤ rehab journeys,offering a potential boost to teh team’s pitching depth as the postseason approaches.

Sandlin, sidelined since July 7 with right elbow inflammation and currently on the 60-day ‌injured list, threw a bullpen session Tuesday, according to Sportsnet’s⁣ Arden ⁤Zwelling. The session was described as “OK,” and Sandlin is scheduled for another bullpen in the coming days as he aims to rejoin the team. His throwing program has⁢ been temporarily halted twice due to inflammation, ⁣requiring ​injections. Acquired from the Cleveland Guardians ​in⁣ the offseason, the 28-year-old right-hander has a 2.20 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 16.1 innings pitched this season.

Francis, recovering from ⁢a right shoulder ⁣impingement that landed him on the injured list June​ 17,⁤ is slated to throw one inning of live batting practice Saturday at the Blue jays’ complex in Dunedin. Zwelling​ reports Francis has progressed well and could become a viable option for the ⁢team⁢ later in the season.The ‍29-year-old was projected‌ to be a key part⁤ of the rotation this year after posting a stellar⁤ 1.53 ERA over the⁤ final two months​ of 2024. However, he struggled in 14 starts this season, ⁤compiling a 6.05 ERA and allowing 19 ‍home runs.
