England⁤ Cricketer‍ Under‌ Police Inquiry Following Spiking and Assault Allegations

London – A former england cricketer is currently being investigated by police following reports of ⁤sexual assault and drink spiking ‌at a London pub‍ co-owned by several⁢ prominent sports‌ figures. The⁤ Metropolitan Police confirmed to the Daily Telegraph on ‌Friday that a man in his 40s was interviewed under caution on June 5th regarding a complaint of spiking and assault.

According to a police⁢ statement, two⁤ women ‍are ⁢believed to have been spiked, ⁢with one⁣ also alleging a sexual ‍assault. Enquiries‌ are ‍ongoing, and ‍no arrests have ‍been⁣ made‌ at this stage.

The alleged incident occurred at⁢ The⁣ Boundary, a cricket-themed pub ⁣in Chelsea, on⁤ May 22nd -⁢ the first day of England’s Test match against⁢ Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge. The pub is co-owned by England cricket’s head coach,Brendon McCullum, and white-ball batter Jos Buttler, alongside other members of the England setup including 50-over⁤ World Cup ‌winning captain Eoin Morgan, former one-day ⁢international batter ⁤Sam Billings, former South africa captain Graeme⁤ Smith, and Ireland cricketer Paul Stirling. England and British Lions rugby union hooker Jamie‌ George is also a shareholder.⁢

None ⁤of the pub’s owners were present during the alleged incident. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ⁢has been aware of the allegations for some time but ‍declined to comment when contacted by the ⁢Guardian.

This incident comes amid a ‌backdrop of recent misconduct cases within english cricket. In august,⁢ an unnamed former county coach received ‌a nine-month suspension after admitting to sending sexually‌ explicit images⁤ to two female junior staff members. The Cricket Discipline Panel⁤ redacted the coach’s‍ name, ‍citing a “serious risk of harm” if his identity were revealed. The panel found the ⁢coach guilty of five charges of‌ professional ⁣misconduct, noting a power imbalance‍ in one ‌instance where ‍the woman was “much younger” and he held a “far more senior position” at ‍the club.

Separately, in November ⁤of last year, a professional coach was⁢ suspended for six ⁤months for “inappropriate sexual ⁢behavior” during a pre-season tour for an unnamed men’s and women’s county team.
