Virginia Men’s Soccer faces Top-10 Test at Louisville Saturday
The Virginia Cavaliers men’s soccer team will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to face the No. 6 Cardinals this Saturday in a pivotal ACC matchup. This contest features two programs wiht recent postseason success, as UVA aims to continue its consistent presence in the NCAA tournament and Louisville seeks to maintain its position as an ACC contender.
Virginia has established itself as a perennial NCAA tournament threat, earning a first-round bye in the tournament for the third consecutive season as an 11-seed in 2024. The cavaliers are one of only five programs to achieve this feat in the last three years and the sole program to secure multiple top-eight seeds during that span.UVA recently reached its second ACC Semifinal appearance in three seasons, demonstrating its competitive edge within the conference.
Offensively, the Cavaliers have distributed scoring, with five different players contributing goals across their four games this season. Leading the charge is Boston College transfer Marco Dos Santos, who currently tops the ACC with four assists. Notably, each of Dos Santos’ assists has directly led to a Virginia go-ahead goal, highlighting his impact on the team’s success.
In the previous meeting between the two teams, reese Miller recorded an assist and remains the only player from either roster to have factored into a goal within the series. The Cavaliers will look to build on this momentum as they take on a challenging opponent in Louisville.
