COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team prepares for a challenging weekend road trip, facing No. 8 Harvard on Saturday adn Northeastern on Sunday. Both contests will be broadcast live on FloSports.
The Buckeyes (4-2) enter the weekend following a pair of narrow defeats at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, falling 1-0 to No. 3 Virginia and 2-1 in double overtime to then-No. 11 Syracuse. These close contests highlight the team’s competitive spirit as they now navigate a crucial stretch of non-conference play, aiming to refine their offensive prowess and defensive solidity before Big Ten action intensifies. The games against Harvard and Northeastern present opportunities to test their strategies against nationally ranked opponents and build momentum.
Ohio State’s offense is spearheaded by Makenna Webster,who currently leads the team with 10 goals and 22 total points this season.She is tied with Philippa Schipper for the team led in assists, each with two. Contributing to the Buckeyes’ scoring efforts are Zella Bailey, MaKayla Carahaly, Katie Fichtner, Raleigh Kerst, Loryn Jordon, Anne Marie Krebs, and Carmela Maro, all of whom have tallied one goal apiece.
Defensively, Maddie Stevens has been a mainstay in goal, playing every minute of the season (247:26) and recording eight saves. The Buckeyes have consistently generated offensive opportunities, outshooting their opponents 83-31 and averaging 4.25 goals per game.
Following this weekend’s matchups, Ohio State will continue its road swing with a game at Louisville on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
