Gangwon Cruise Highlights Journeys of Recovery,Long-Held Dreams & Decades of Friendship

GANGWON-DO – A special cruise experience hosted by the gangwon special Self-Governing Province became a poignant platform for residents to share deeply personal stories of overcoming adversity,fulfilling lifelong aspirations,and celebrating enduring bonds. The “Special Travel with the Domin Experience Team, Special Story Chapter Meeting” held at Cupido on September 11th, featured citizens recounting journeys marked by health challenges, milestone anniversaries, and decades-long friendships.

The event, designed as a reflective space for attendees to connect with one another, underscored the power of travel to mark significant life moments and provide healing. Participants shared narratives ranging from post-surgery recovery trips to long-awaited celebrations and acknowledgements of dedicated careers.

Kim Ji-yeon (56), of Gangneung, revealed the cruise was a wish fulfilled after her husband’s recovery from a major surgery and a prolonged illness, marking a long-anticipated couple’s trip after 30 years. Meanwhile, Yoo Hye-ran (61), from Wonju, embarked on the cruise with a colleague after 23 years of working together, describing it as “a healing trip for me for 20 years.”

Other attendees included kwon Eun-seok (79), head of the Chuncheon Cultural Center, who celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with a first-time cruise experience alongside his wife, choi Soon-ja (76). Jeon Young-ho (61), of Chuncheon, a retiree after 35 years of public service in the forest department, reflected on his career, recalling days spent preventing forest fires. Meng Eun-kyung (51), participating from Sokcho City, shared her thankfulness for reconnecting with her 18-year-old daughter.

Sohn Chang-hwan, head of the Global Division, remarked on the event, stating, “We have discovered the meaning of true travel in the lives of the citizens.” The cruise took place alongside a signing ceremony between Kangwon Ja-do, Sokcho Port Cruise, Lotte Tourism, and Costa Cruise, solidifying future cruise opportunities in the region.
