Michael Caine Returns for Vin Diesel’s *The Last Witch Hunter 2*

Michael Caine Comes Out of Retirement for The Last‍ Witch Hunter 2 Alongside ‌Vin Diesel

LONDON – Michael⁣ Caine has emerged from retirement to reprise ‌his role in The Last ​Witch ⁢Hunter 2, reuniting ‌with Vin Diesel for ⁤the ⁢sequel.The ⁤news comes ⁣after Caine, 91, was photographed in⁤ a wheelchair in July attending Diesel’s 58th birthday celebration⁤ in London, sparking speculation about his health and future projects.

Caine had⁤ previously announced his retirement in⁣ 2009 following Harry Brown, and again⁢ after a smaller role in Bestseller 24 ​films later. He briefly returned to acting in 2022 with Medieval and⁣ in 2023 starred in The Great‌ Escaper,portraying a World War II veteran ⁣revisiting the‍ D-Day beaches.At the time, ⁢he lamented being offered primarily “old man” roles, but acknowledged ​positive critical ⁤reception⁤ to The Great Escaper, stating, “Maybe it’s better to leave like⁢ this.”

the Last Witch Hunter, released in 2015, saw Caine interpret Kauder, while‌ Diesel played the‍ witch​ hunter Melkor. Despite⁣ mixed reviews, the‌ film grossed⁢ $119 million internationally and has maintained a strong presence on streaming platforms like Netflix.

The upcoming sequel⁣ marks a important return for Caine, who boasts a celebrated ⁢career⁢ spanning ⁣over 130 titles and two Academy ⁢Awards for Best Supporting Actor‍ (Hannah ⁣and‍ Her ⁣Sisters in 1986 and‌ The Cider House ​Rules in 2000). He⁣ is also widely recognized ‌for his portrayal of Alfred Pennyworth⁣ in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

A ‌documentary ⁣focused ​on Caine’s career is ‌also reportedly‍ in production, offering ‍further ​insight into his six-decade legacy.
