Slough’s Adam Azim, 23, has reaffirmed his commitment to Boxxer, signing a contract extension with the promotional company as he eyes a world title challenge within the next year.
The highly-rated light-welterweight, currently undefeated in 13 professional fights, will continue his ascent under the guidance of Boxxer’s Ben Shalom. This decision arrives at a pivotal moment for both Azim and Boxxer, as the promotional outfit navigates a new broadcast deal with the BBC following the conclusion of its partnership with Sky Sports. Several Boxxer fighters are evaluating their options, but Azim’s loyalty secures a key asset for Shalom’s organization.
Azim, who holds the European and IBO light-welterweight titles, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to deliver him to the highest level of the sport.”I know I have the right team around me to take me to the top,” Azim stated. “I’m excited for this next chapter. I wont to fight for world titles and test myself against the best fighters out ther.”
The extension comes after Azim’s February victory over experienced opponent sergey Lipinets, a win that marked his tenth stoppage in 13 fights. Boxxer recently announced a new broadcast agreement with the BBC, promising wider exposure for its stable of fighters.
However, the landscape of British boxing promotion has seen some shifts recently, with light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi choosing to move to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions in August.Azim’s decision to remain with Boxxer underscores his belief in the company’s vision for his career and its ability to provide the platform for him to achieve his world title ambitions. Shalom has consistently described Azim as a “generational talent,” and the extension signals a continued investment in his potential.
