Swan Songs Portland Brings Comfort Through Music to Those Nearing End of Life
Portland, OR – September 10, 2025 - In a city known for it’s vibrant music scene, one organization is harnessing the power of song to offer solace and dignity to individuals facing life’s final chapter. Swan Songs Portland provides personalized, private concerts to people nearing the end of life in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties – completely free of charge to recipients, their families, and caregivers.
Founded by Portland music veterans, Swan Songs connects patients with professional musicians who perform the music they choose, fulfilling deeply personal “musical last wishes.” the organization also ensures musicians are fairly compensated for their moving performances.
“it’s about bringing comfort,joy,and a sense of peace during a very difficult time,” explains Jim Friscia,President of Swan Songs Portland and a long-time fixture in the Portland music community. Friscia is also known as one of the founders of The mysti Krewe of Nimbus, the spirited Mardi Gras Krewe that brightens portland each year.
