Disney+ to Stream Pixar’s ‘Elio’ September 17

Pixar’s ‍animated​ feature Elio will stream on Disney+ ⁤beginning ⁣September 13, Disney announced today. The⁣ film, which ‍debuted in theaters June 13, 2024, ⁣and underperformed at the box office, features the voices of ​Yonas Kibreab as Elio and Zoe Saldaña as his aunt.The streaming ‌release offers ⁢audiences a second chance to⁣ experience​ the ‍story of a boy who accidentally broadcasts to the⁣ universe that Earth is teeming with life.​ Elio‘s theatrical run saw it open in third place⁣ with $21 million domestically-a historical low for Pixar-and ⁤ultimately gross $72 million domestically and $153 million worldwide. Despite the box office results, the film has garnered positive critical reception, currently⁣ holding an 83% fresh rating⁢ on Rotten tomatoes.

Directed by⁤ Alfred Molina, Madeline Sharafian, and⁢ Domee Shi, Elio also stars Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett,​ and Remy Edgerly. Julia Cho, ⁣Mark Hammer, and Mike Jones penned the screenplay.

the ⁤film centers⁣ on Elio, an 11-year-old boy who finds ⁣himself ⁤transported across the ⁤galaxy and mistaken for an intergalactic ambassador. The cast includes Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, Brad Garrett ⁤as Lord Grigon, and ‌Remy Edgerly⁣ as glordon.
