Israel Conducts Deepest Air Strikes Yet in Yemen,Targeting Houthi Sites
Sanaa,Yemen – Israel launched its longest air force operation as the start of the ongoing conflict, conducting strikes against approximately 15 targets across Yemen. The operation, described by Israeli sources as “beating of the bells,” involved over 30 pieces of ammunition deployed by more than 10 combat aircraft, traveling a distance exceeding 2,350 kilometers.
The strikes represent a significant escalation in Israel’s response to recent Houthi attacks targeting Israeli territory, including areas near Ben Gurion and ramon airports. The Houthi group, aligned with Iran, has vowed retaliation for Israel’s actions in Gaza. This latest action underscores the widening regional implications of the Israel-Hamas war and the potential for broader conflict.According to reports from the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, targets included a fuel storage complex, the Houthi media department, missile launch platforms, the headquarters of the Houthi spokesman, and a camp. Local residents, speaking to the German News Agency (dpa), reported raids targeting the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in central Sanaa and other locations southwest of the capital, with visible smoke rising from various parts of the city.
Houthi media reported additional sites hit included a moral guidance headquarters in Sanaa’s Al-Tahrir neighborhood, and also civil facilities in Al-Jouf province, including the Central Bank and a government complex.
A Houthi military spokesperson refuted claims of targeting missile launch platforms, asserting that the Israeli strikes “affected purely civilian signs, including the 26 September and Yemen newspaper.” The spokesperson stated there were casualties among journalists and civilians, promising a response to what thay termed “brutal aggression.”
israeli Defense Minister Yoav gallant stated on X (formerly Twitter), “We promised more strikes, and today we made another painful blow to the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen.”
