Southeastern Connect: Free Microtransit in San Diego

New Zero-Emission Microtransit ‌Service Launches in Southeastern San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – Residents of Mount Hope, Chollas View, and Emerald Hills now have access to a new, affordable transportation option. Southeastern Connect, a zero-emission microtransit service utilizing electric⁤ vehicles, began operation ‌this month and is currently offering ⁢free rides through November.

Teh service,‍ operated by Via transportation, aims to improve access ⁣to work, school, local businesses, community spaces, and connections to existing transit options for residents of southeastern San⁤ Diego. Rides can be ‍booked through the Via San Diego smartphone app or‌ by calling⁣ 619-413-9986.

Southeastern Connect is a collaborative effort funded by SANDAG, the Urban collaborative Project, the City of San diego, and ​the State Clean mobility Options ​program. The ⁢initiative is designed not onyl to enhance transportation but also to support the vitality of ⁣local neighborhoods.

“Southeastern Connect helps tie together these cultural and economic anchors while ‍improving access for residents,” stated a⁢ recent rider who visited community hubs like The Mental Bar, Project New Village, and the Mt.⁣ Hope Garden while utilizing the service. The program reflects a commitment to‍ building healthier, more connected ⁣communities within Southeastern San Diego.
