Expired Products⁤ Spark Concern at Latvian⁣ Retailer Rimi

Liepaja, Latvia ‌ – Customers are raising alarms after multiple reports surfaced of expired products being sold at Rimi stores across Latvia. A‍ Threads user, @tuktkeuw, ‌initially ⁢shared a discovery on August 10th: a “picnik” cheese for kids with a July 5th, 2025 expiration date – over a month past its sell-by date.The user reported⁤ finding additional expired packages during‌ a return visit to the Rimi Ostmala location in Liepaja. According to the post, a store cashier appeared unaware of the issue until the expiration dates were pointed out.

The initial post ignited a wave of⁣ similar complaints online. One commenter recounted feeding‍ her 7-month-old infant “I Love Ecco“⁤ apple and cinnamon porridge that had expired on⁣ April 28th, 2025, finding shelves stocked with the outdated ⁤product. Another customer described being advised by a Rimi employee to simply re-shelve expired bread and select ⁤a fresher loaf.

Numerous social media ⁤users echoed these experiences,reporting frequent encounters with dairy products ⁣nearing or past their expiration dates,often discovered only after​ purchase. Many emphasized the need for vigilant self-checking of expiration dates while shopping at Rimi.

As ‍of today, Rimi has not issued a formal public response to the growing concerns, prompting ironic commentary from customers⁣ on ‍social media,​ with one user noting, “The main thing is that there is no comment on such posts @Rimi.” The incidents raise questions about the effectiveness of quality control and‌ monitoring procedures‍ within the retailer.
