Campo quijano to Host Blood Drive Tomorrow, Addressing Critical regional Need
Campo Quijano residents will have the opportunity to donate blood tomorrow, bolstering vital supplies for patients across the Salta province. The drive comes as regional health officials emphasize the ongoing need for both scheduled and spontaneous donors to maintain adequate blood product availability for daily patient care, including those requiring treatment for leukemia, aplastic anemia, lymphoma, myeloma, thalassemia, metabolic errors, or immunological deficits.Maintaining a consistent blood supply is crucial for responding to the needs of patients of all ages. Individuals eligible to donate must meet specific health criteria – including being free from recent surgeries (within the last 12 months), piercings or tattoos (within the last 12 months), and certain infectious diseases – and adhere to waiting periods after vaccinations (72 hours post-flu shot) or antibiotic treatment (7 days). Those who have had dengue fever can donate after three months, while those with hemorrhagic dengue must wait six months. Individuals living with someone exhibiting dengue symptoms should wait four weeks before donating. A minimum interval of two months is required between donations.
The Cucai Salta team will also be present to inform potential donors about bone marrow donation for transplantation, and to register individuals for the national Registry of Volunteers, requiring a unit of blood for genetic data determination.
