Men’s Soccer: Mighty Macs Fall 1-0 to Elizabethtown Blue Jays

IMMACULATA,⁤ Pa. ⁣- Immaculata University’s men’s⁣ soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Elizabethtown College on Monday evening, despite a strong defensive performance. The loss drops the Mighty Macs to 0-3 on the season as they prepare for their first conference matchup.

The ‍Mighty⁢ Macs face an early-season challenge as⁤ they navigate a tough⁤ schedule. ⁣This contest highlighted their defensive ⁢capabilities, but⁤ also‌ underscored the⁢ need​ for offensive breakthroughs.Immaculata will look to translate lessons ⁤from this close encounter into ​success as they ‌enter Atlantic East Conference play on ‍October 4th against Centenary (N.J.).

Elizabethtown initiated the offensive pressure early, with a shot attempt blocked within the first two minutes. Immaculata’s‍ defense, anchored by goalkeeper Luca Greppellini, repeatedly thwarted⁢ the Blue Jays’ advances, including a ‌save on a high shot to the right. ⁢Colin Jester registered Immaculata’s ⁣first shot, though it went off-target.‍ The​ Blue Jays broke ‌the deadlock in the 40th minute, capitalizing on a kick following a yellow card to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.The second half saw both teams trade⁣ scoring opportunities. Immaculata earned multiple corner kicks and generated shots from ⁣Michael Prall and Jester. ⁣Greppellini continued ⁣to be a key presence, recording three saves throughout the game.Prall came ⁣close to ⁣equalizing in the 90th minute, but his shot sailed just high, sealing Elizabethtown’s 1-0 victory.

Michael Prall⁤ and Colin Jester each led immaculata with three shots. Elizabethtown held a ⁣slight ‍edge in corner ⁤kicks, 5-4. Luca Greppellini finished with three ​saves for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata will⁢ travel to Baltimore ⁣on Wednesday, September 10th, to face Notre Dame of ‌Maryland University at 4 p.m.
