James Harden’s Houston restaurant, Thirteen, has been locked out due to over $2.2 million in unpaid debt, according ‌to a notice posted monday. The closure ‌marks a financial setback for the NBA star’s venture into the restaurant industry and raises questions about the future of the upscale eatery.

Located at 1911⁤ Bagby Street, Thirteen opened in 2021, the same year Harden requested a trade from the Houston Rockets. Despite a‌ recent rebrand and a strong 4.2-star rating based on over 1,900 Google⁢ reviews, ⁢the restaurant is now inaccessible to management until the delinquent rent and other lease amounts are settled. Google currently lists the establishment as closed.

The lockout notice details $2.2 million in “delinquent ‍rents and other amounts due to the lease,” leading to the changing of the locks. management will receive a new key upon full payment of the debt.

Thirteen is described as offering ‍”New American cuisine & a raw bar, plus⁢ a hookah & cocktail lounge.” patrons can still find available reservations on OpenTable, though it remains unclear if those bookings will be honored.
