Dirty Rich Secures Del Mar Juvenile Turf Victory, Eyes Breeders’ cup
DEL MAR, Calif. – Dirty Rich demonstrated a commanding performance Saturday, winning the $100,000 Del Mar Juvenile Turf S. (G3T) in a final time of 1:35.57. The victory positions the colt as a strong contender for the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
Trainer Bob Sadler indicated the Del Mar race was strategically planned as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup. “The idea was to get a race over here to get him ready for the Breeders’ Cup,” Sadler said. The Juvenile Turf S. serves as a key stepping stone for young turf horses aiming for championship glory,and Dirty Rich’s decisive win signals his potential on the national stage.The race unfolded with Hey nay Nay taking an early lead, but Dirty Rich quickly challenged and overtook him.Jockey Hector Berrios expertly guided Dirty Rich, settling him just off the pace before making a decisive move around the far turn. Hey Nay Nay regained the lead at the top of the stretch, but Dirty Rich responded powerfully, pulling clear of the field.
Only a late surge from Plutarch threatened to challenge Dirty Rich’s dominance. Though, the son of No nay Never extended his lead in the final strides, finishing 1 ½ lengths ahead of his closest competitor.
Plutarch, Proletariat, and Caro Bueno completed the top four finishers. Hey Nay Nay paid $4 for the win. The Del mar Juvenile Turf S. (G3T) result underscores the growing talent in the three-year-old turf division and sets the stage for an exciting Breeders’ Cup showdown.
