Punjab Government Schools to Reopen ‌September 9 Following Flood Assessments

Chandigarh – Classes will resume for students at all government schools in Punjab on Tuesday, September 9,⁣ Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced today. Schools across the state have been closed as August 27 due to heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding.

Bains stated the decision to reopen came after a‍ review ⁢of the flood situation. These⁣ efforts will be supported by local panchayats, municipal councils,⁤ and corporations. Any issues identified must be instantly reported to the ‍district’s Deputy ⁢Commissioner and the Engineering Department.

Private schools are permitted to reopen for ‍students on September 8, contingent upon guaranteeing student safety and confirming building integrity.

According to a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Minister Bains, “All government, private, and aided schools, colleges, and ⁢universities ⁢in the state will reopen as usual from tomorrow (Monday). If any school or college is affected by floods, the‌ decision to close it will be made by the respective ⁣district’s Deputy Commissioner.”
