Klepiš Debuts with Sparta Prague, Calls First Game a Dream Come True
Prague, Czech Republic – Veteran forward Lukáš Klepiš, 41, made his debut for Sparta Prague on Friday, contributing to a victory against four-time champions League winner, Färjestad BK. Klepiš described playing for Sparta as fulfilling a long-held ambition, adding another chapter to a distinguished career spanning multiple leagues.
The possibility arose partly due to the partnership between Sparta Prague and Klepiš’s former club, Bílí Tygři Liberec. While not the primary reason for signing, Klepiš acknowledged the connection as “a nice bonus.” His inclusion in the fourth line alongside Adam Raška and Michal Vitouch signals a potential ongoing role with the team, according to coach Pavel Gross.
Despite his extensive experiance, Klepiš admitted to pre-game nerves. “I am 41 years old and I have played something, but I was nervous anyway. On friday evening and before the match,” he confessed. He also expressed initial concern about matching the pace of Färjestad’s Swedish players, having reviewed footage beforehand. “I saw some clips at the meeting and I was quite nervous about the speed. But in the end it wasn’t that bad,” Klepiš added.
The game marked a winning start for Klepiš in a Sparta jersey, and the club will be hoping for continued success as the season progresses.
