Pamekasan, East Java – The Pamekasan Regency Health Office has declared an Extraordinary Event (KLB) status for measles in 18 villages following a surge in cases and reported fatalities. The declaration, made Saturday, aims to mobilize resources and accelerate immunization efforts to contain the outbreak.
The affected villages are Batukalangan, Bugih, Campor, Dasok, Groat Anyar, Groom, Jambringin, Jarin, Kramat, badung Prohibition, Majungan, Pamoroh, Bangkes, Panaguan, Pangbatok, Sumber Waru, Terrak, and Desapolagan.
According to the Head of the pamekasan Health Office, the decision to declare a KLB was prompted by a significant increase in measles cases, including deaths. “Based on reports from each Puskesmas as of today, six children have died due to measles exposure in Pamekasan,” he stated. This represents an increase of five deaths compared to the previously reported single fatality.
As of September 4, 2025, a total of 417 residents are suspected of having measles, with 160 confirmed cases. The fatalities occurred among children aged between 4 months and 4 years, and were reported across four districts: Tlanakan, Pasean, Pamekasan, and Larangan. Specifically, one death was recorded in Pamekasan District, one in Pasean District, and two each in Larangan and Pasean Districts.
In response to the escalating situation, the Health Office is accelerating mass measles immunization campaigns to prevent further spread of the disease.
