DPWH Engineer Denies Involvement in Alleged Bulacan ‘Ghost’ Flood Control Projects
MANILA, Philippines – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineer Henry Alcantara has vehemently denied allegations linking him to fraudulent flood control projects in Bulacan province. His legal counsel asserts he had no knowledge of, or involvement in, the scheme currently under investigation by authorities.
The law firm of Flaminiano Arroyo & Dueñas issued a statement over the weekend on behalf of Alcantara, maintaining his “innocence” and stating he “did not author these alleged ghost projects.” The statement claims any wrongdoing occurred without Alcantara’s knowledge, consent, or approval, directly refuting claims identifying him as the central figure in the controversial projects.Alcantara, thru his lawyers, intends to “contest every accusation” of participation or benefit from any unlawful activity and will pursue all available legal remedies, including a challenge to his recent summary dismissal from service. The camp has pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation, expressing confidence that the truth will ultimately exonerate Alcantara.
“He will continue to assist the authorities in the investigation of these flood control ghost projects. We are confident that in due time, the truth will surface and Engr. Alcantara will be cleared of the baseless accusations levied against him,” the statement concluded. The investigation centers on potential irregularities in the implementation of flood control projects in Bulacan, raising concerns about the proper allocation of public funds and the effectiveness of infrastructure designed to mitigate flooding in the region.
