Homewood, IL - May 8, 2025 – Residents of Homewood and surrounding communities will have a full weekend of options, starting with the return of the popular outdoor farmers market this Saturday. The market, promising a wider selection than ever before, will be accompanied by STEM activities for children, cycling events for adults, and fall sports registration for youth.
The Homewood outdoor farmers market opens May 31st, operating every Saturday and Sunday from September 6th to November 9th. Located in Martin square on Martin avenue between Chestnut and Ridge Roads, the market will feature vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, skincare products, and more. Food trucks will also be on site, providing ready-to-eat meals.Simultaneously, the H-F Park District is accepting registrations for its Youth Flag Football League, open to students from kindergarten through high school.
For those seeking active pursuits, Homewood science Centre will host “STEM Saturday” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 18022 Dixie Highway, offering science-based play and learning opportunities. Cyclists can choose between two rides departing from GoodSpeed Cycles at 2125 183rd St. Barb & Dan’s road Ride, beginning at 8 a.m., welcomes all experience levels with a no-drop 20-mile group, while stronger riders can extend their distance.An ”Off-leash Ride” starts at 8:30 a.m., covering a leisurely nine-mile route including the Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run, and Izaak Walton Preserve, concluding with donuts back at GoodSpeed Cycles.
