WROCLAW, Poland – France winger Ousmane Dembélé sustained a right hamstring injury during a World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on Friday, raising concerns about his availability for Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming Champions league campaign.
The injury occurred less than 35 minutes after Dembélé entered the game as a second-half substitute in France’s 2-0 victory. He was visibly hampered, clutching the back of his right thigh as he walked off the pitch.This progress casts a shadow over PSG’s preparations to defend their Champions League title, with the group stage opener against Atalanta scheduled for September 17. Dembélé’s potential absence represents a meaningful setback for the French champion, notably with a challenging fixture at his former club, Barcelona, looming on October 1.
Dembélé had limited participation in France’s training sessions this week as he managed a pre-existing injury. France coach Didier Deschamps displayed clear frustration on the sideline following the incident.
