Colombia has qualified for the 2026 World Cup after a decisive 3-0 victory against Bolivia in Barranquilla. The win brings their total to 25 points in the CONMEBOL World cup Qualifiers with one match remaining.
The qualification ends a four-year absence for Colombia, who last appeared in the World Cup in 2018.Despite a strong start to the qualifying campaign with nine undefeated matches, securing the berth required patience and dominance in this match against Bolivia.
Captain James Rodríguez broke the deadlock at the half-hour mark, converting a cross from Santiago Arias. This goal was notable, making him ColombiaS all-time leading qualifier goalscorer with 14 goals.
Colombia maintained control throughout the match, utilizing the width of the field and testing Bolivia’s defence with a combination of aerial play and through balls from midfielders Jhon Arias and richard Ríos. They finished the first half with 73 percent possession and five shots on goal.
At the 60th minute, James Rodríguez was substituted with Juan Fernando Quintero, aiming to unlock the defense further. The second goal arrived shortly after, with Quintero providing a long pass that enabled Jhon Córdoba to score with a powerful right-footed shot.
The lead was extended to 3-0 when Dayro Moreno scored, cheered on by the home crowd, assisted by a pass from Luis Díaz.
