Lake Agassiz Library Fall Legacy Events: Author Visits & More

Lake agassiz Regional Library Launches Fall Author Series with Focus on Minnesota history

The Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) will host author events throughout October and November, bringing past narratives and engaging discussions to communities across Beltrami County.The series kicks off this week with presentations by authors Preus and Christopher Lehman, offering free access to compelling stories of MinnesotaS past.

The LARL Legacy Series aims to connect residents with the rich history of the region and state, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs of those who came before. Funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund makes these events accessible to all, supporting the library’s mission to provide enriching cultural experiences.

Author Preus will present at the Fertile Public Library on Friday,Oct. 24,at 10:30 a.m., followed by a question and answer session and book signing. Later that day, Preus will also appear at the Bagley Public Library at 6 p.m., again with a Q&A and signing.Christopher Lehman will discuss his book, “It Took courage,” focusing on the remarkable story of Eliza Winston, a woman who secured her freedom through a legal appeal after escaping enslavement in Minnesota in 1860. Lehman’s presentation is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24,at 1:30 p.m.at the Fosston Public Library and at 6 p.m. at the Bagley Public Library, both including a Q&A and book signing. Lehman will separate fact from fiction, highlighting Winston’s battle for freedom.
