CHICAGO – Teh Chicago Sky ended a four-game skid with an 88-64 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night,fueled by strong performances from Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Despite both teams being eliminated from playoff contention,the win offered a positive note for the Sky as they close out the season.
Angel Reese recorded her 23rd double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Kamilla Cardoso contributed 16 points for Chicago (10-30), who improved to 6-15 at home. The sun fell to 4-17 on the road and a 10-31 overall record.
Tina Charles led Connecticut with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, surpassing Diana Taurasi‘s previous WNBA record and now holding the most made field goals in league history with 3,347. Saniya Rivers added 16 points for the Sun.
For the Sky, Kia Nurse scored 12 points, and Rachel Banham and Elizabeth Williams each added 10. banham’s two 3-pointers brought her season total to 82, placing her second in franchise history behind marina Mabrey’s 89.
Chicago dominated from the start, opening with an 8-0 run and extending their lead to 30-10 early in the second quarter. The Sky maintained control, leading 42-27 at halftime, thanks to 51.7% shooting from the field and 11 successful free throws out of 13 attempts in the first half. The Sun had previously won the last five road games against Chicago, dating back to the 2023 season.
