Harrisburg, PA – September 3, 2023 – Eagles fans heading to the home opener on September 4th will have access to SEPTA’s express train service thanks to a last-minute sponsorship agreement with FanDuel. State Senators frank Farry (R-6), Tracy Pennycuick (R-24), and joe Picozzi (R-5) announced the restored service today, averting planned cuts that would have cancelled the popular trains.
SEPTA had initially slated the sports express trains for elimination as part of its first phase of service reductions. Anticipating the cancellation, the Senators proactively secured a commitment from Uber to cover operating costs and maintain service for fans.
“While we work towards a long-term funding solution for SEPTA, we are pleased fans will have access to express trains and can hopefully enjoy an Eagles win without disruption,” the Senators stated. “We remain focused on real solutions for riders and fans, even as others engage in publicity efforts.”
The Senators expressed gratitude to SEPTA, the Philadelphia Eagles, FanDuel for their sponsorship, and Uber for their willingness to step in as a backup partner, ensuring reliable and safe transportation for thousands of fans and easing traffic congestion.
