Smith Earns First NCAC Field Hockey athlete of the Week Honor of 2025
CLEVELAND - Allegheny College field hockey player Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Field Hockey Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Smith is the first recipient of the weekly award for the 2025 season.
Smith’s strong start to the season included a total of six points across two games - a 2-1 overtime loss to SUNY Brockport and a 5-0 win against Juniata College. She lead the Gators’ offense wiht two goals and two assists. Smith scored the lone goal against Brockport and then matched her career-high with four points in the victory over Juniata,contributing assists on the first two goals and adding a goal of her own in the 33rd minute.This performance fueled Allegheny’s highest-scoring game since 2022.
The sophomore is the third Allegheny student-athlete to receive the NCAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week award, and the first since Hallie Reiger ’23 earned consecutive honors in September 2022.Allegheny will next host Roanoke College in their 2025 home opener on Saturday, September 6, at 11 a.m. at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
