Romanian Energy Distributor E.ON Launches Program ⁤to Pay consumers for Grid Flexibility

Bucharest,⁤ Romania ⁤- Delgaz Grid, the Romanian energy distribution company owned by German energy giant E.ON, is developing a voluntary program to compensate consumers for ‌adjusting their electricity consumption to help balance the national power grid. The initiative aims to leverage “energy ‍flexibility” as renewable energy ⁣sources increase and the energy system becomes‍ more decentralized.

The program, detailed in a draft operational procedure published by delgaz Grid, ⁤will‍ allow consumers with qualifying installations – for production, storage, or consumption – to⁤ participate in managing network congestion and providing⁣ flexibility services. This⁣ move comes as Romania, like other European‍ nations, seeks to modernize ⁣its energy infrastructure to accommodate a growing share of ‌intermittent renewable energy and electrify various ⁣sectors.According to Delgaz Grid, energy flexibility ⁢is “essential to maintain the dynamic balance between the demand and the supply of electricity.”

The system is⁢ designed to stabilize the electrical network during sudden shifts in ‌demand ‌or supply, efficiently integrate renewable sources ‍like solar and wind power, and possibly reduce the need for costly infrastructure upgrades. By optimizing existing consumption patterns, Delgaz Grid envisions‌ a ⁢transition towards a “cleaner, decentralized and participatory system.” The‌ company’s draft procedure outlines the ⁤technical qualification requirements for installations seeking to participate in the market for these⁢ flexibility services.
