MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered‌ the Department of⁤ Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Public Works and Highways ​(DPWH) ‍to undertake ‍a “sweeping review”⁢ of the DPWH’s proposed budget for the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP). ​The directive, announced Wednesday by Malacañang, comes after the​ President uncovered alleged irregularities in DPWH flood control projects, prompting a full investigation.

The⁢ review‌ aims to ensure⁤ responsible allocation and utilization of public ⁢funds,‍ notably in light of concerns regarding possibly fraudulent projects.
