Polish Football Achieves Historic First: Four Teams Compete in Conference League
warsaw, Poland – For the first time, four Polish clubs – Lech Poznań, Legia Warsaw, Raków Częstochowa, and Jagiellonia Białystok – will compete in the same edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League. This unprecedented achievement marks a high point for Polish football, with all four teams entering the competition via diffrent qualifying routes. Lech Poznań initially participated in Champions League qualifying rounds, while Legia Warsaw initially aimed for the Europa League. Raków Częstochowa and Jagiellonia Białystok progressed through all rounds of the Conference League qualification process.
The Conference League group stage begins in early october. Last season saw Jagiellonia and Legia reach the quarter-finals,fueling optimism for further success. According to data analysis from Football Meets Data, each of the four Polish teams has a strong probability – between 88 and 91 percent – of advancing to the knockout phase.
the top eight teams from the league stage automatically qualify for the Round of 16. Teams finishing between ninth and twenty-fourth place will compete in a two-legged playoff to determine the remaining spots. Football Meets Data projects the Polish clubs to finish between 10th and 13th place overall. Raków Częstochowa is given the highest chance (32 percent) of securing a top-eight position, followed closely by Legia Warsaw (31 percent), Lech Poznań (24 percent), and Jagiellonia Białystok (20 percent).
Recent transfer activity has further bolstered the Polish teams’ prospects. Notably, legia Warsaw has secured the signing of Kacper Urbański, a highly-rated young Polish talent, and Kamil Piątkowski as a replacement for Jan Ziółkowski.
