White Sox Edge ⁢Twins 6-5 in Back-and-Forth Labor Day Contest

Minneapolis – the Chicago white Sox rallied with a pair of eighth-inning doubles to defeat the Minnesota‌ Twins ⁣6-5⁢ at Target Field on ⁤Labor Day, in a game characterized ⁤by numerous defensive miscues and pitching ⁣changes. Despite neither team⁤ being in playoff contention-carrying a‌ combined 162 losses with a month remaining in the season-the game featured consistent offensive pressure from both ‍sides.

The Twins have now gone 22 ⁤games without a series win, dating back to August 8th. This loss marked their ⁤third consecutive defeat against the White Sox, a rare outcome given Chicago’s 50-88 record; only the Pittsburgh Pirates have also dropped three straight to the AL Central’s last-place team.

Both teams kept runners on‍ base ⁣through the first eight innings, before being retired in order in the ninth. The Twins held a lead in the seventh inning, but ultimately couldn’t close out the game.

“We expect to win that game. We want to win that game,” said Twins manager ⁢Rocco Baldelli.

The Twins recorded a ‌dozen hits, including several for extra bases, while also capitalizing on opportunities against Chicago’s pitching. However, it wasn’t enough to secure the victory.

“We fell behind early. We fought ⁢back. We drove in runs. What else⁣ do we ⁢really want after a tough start?” Baldelli added. “We⁤ just couldn’t hold it and finish it off.”
