North Texas SC Defeats Top West coast Opponent, Solidifies Playoff Position
IRVINE, CA – September 1, 2025 – North texas SC secured a crucial 1-0 victory on the road against a top Western Conference foe, bolstering their playoff hopes with five games remaining in the season. The win demonstrates resilience from Los Toritos, who played the final portion of the match a man down.
The game-winning goal came from a penalty kick, marking the 16th goal of the season for North Texas SC’s leading scorer, JT Sarver. This ties Sarver with Ronaldo Give and Bernard Kamungo for the most goals scored in a single season within the league.
Despite a late 87th-minute red card issued to Gavin Gall for a holding foul during an attacking play, North Texas’ defense, bolstered by substitutions, held firm to secure the clean sheet.
“I thought we played well against a top-four team in the league,” said head coach john Gall. “We got the goal from a penalty kick that I thought we thoroughly deserved. In the second half, they were going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at us. They are a team that scores a lot of goals, and to shut them out was huge. It showed me a lot of determination and grit.”
Goalkeeper JT Harms was instrumental in the victory, earning Man of the Match honors with seven saves. Coach Gall praised harms’ performance and character, stating, “I knew what I was going to get when I signed him. [JT Harms] had a stellar collegiate career; he’s a great leader, competitor, and he wants to do well for this team. He’s not selfish in any way, shape, or form. He wants to do all that he can to help his team out.”
North Texas SC (currently with a record not specified in the source) returns home to choctaw Stadium on saturday, September 6th, at 7:30 pm CT to face Ventura County FC (10-7-5 with 2 shootout wins).
