Serie A Shocker: Inter Milan fall to Udinese⁢ at San Siro

Milan, Italy – Inter Milan, last⁤ season’s Champions League finalists, were stunned at the San ‍Siro on Sunday evening, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Udinese in their second Serie A match. The Nerazzurri ⁣had initially taken the lead, but a resilient Udinese side capitalized on Inter’s lapses to secure a memorable victory.

inter enjoyed‍ a radiant start to ⁢the match, with Denzel Dumfries opening the scoring in ‍just the 17th minute. However, the Dutch defender’s evening took⁢ a turn in the 29th minute when ⁢he conceded a penalty, which Keinan Davis confidently converted to level the score.

Udinese continued to press, and their efforts ‍were rewarded just ⁢before halftime.Arthur Atta silenced the San‌ siro with a well-taken goal in the 40th minute, giving⁤ Udinese a 2-1 lead at ⁣the break.

Despite dominating possession in the second half,⁤ Inter were unable to find an equalizer. Federico Dimarco thought he ⁤had scored in the 56th minute, but⁣ the goal was ruled‌ out for offside following a⁣ VAR review, with⁤ Marcus Thuram deemed to be in an offside position in the build-up.

Inter manager Cristian Chivu‌ introduced fresh legs in the form of Piotr Zielinski, Carlos Augusto, and Ange-Yoan Bonny – who had scored on his debut against Torino last⁣ weekend – in ⁢the final ten minutes, but Udinese held‍ firm to secure the⁢ win.

We made‍ mistakes, after our goal in particular, our intensity dropped. But we said promptly, as soon as we joined the locker room, ⁢that the season was still long,” said Thuram ⁢after the match.

Chivu acknowledged his team’s shortcomings, stating,”It all started well, but the team ‍has poorly managed this advantage.” He also noted the unexpected departure of Simone Inzaghi to Saudi arabia‍ in June, adding ‍to the changes within the club.

The defeat⁣ sees Inter drop‍ to 6th place in the Serie A standings with 3 points, three points behind league leaders Juventus,‌ who secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Genoa.
