Yemeni Houthi Prime Minister Killed in Israeli Strike
Sana, Yemen – August 30, 2025 – The Houthi rebels of Yemen announced today the death of their Prime Minister, Ahmad ghalleb Al Rahwi, adn several cabinet members in an Israeli bombing raid on the capital, Sanaa, which occurred on Thursday.
The Houthis reported attacks on Sanaa on Thursday, but did not initially disclose the targets. The Israeli army subsequently confirmed it had struck a “military objective” within the city.
Backed by Iran, the Houthi rebels control meaningful portions of Yemen, including the capital, where they have established their political institutions. the country has been embroiled in a civil war since 2014.
Since the start of the conflict in Gaza,the Houthis have repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks against Israel,stating their actions are in solidarity with the Palestinians. Israeli forces have intercepted the majority of these attacks.
In recent months, the Houthis have also targeted vessels off the Yemeni coast that they claim are linked to Israel.
The Israeli army has responded with multiple strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, focusing on the capitalS airport and ports along the country’s western coast.
